If you lose your phone and don't have any other devices on your apple ID account then you are straight fucked and can't restore the replacement device from icloud back ups until this insane process of getting a new trusted number added completes which takes forever.
It arrived and after getting a code through my phone and email, now it says I have to wait for them to release my account. I have a new iPad on my hands that I can't use until Apple decides it's okay for me to recover my password.
It asked for my email linked to the account, my recovery phone number linked to the account and what I wanted my new password to be. When I finally got the recovery text, I went back to iforgot account recovery on Apple website with a link that was provided by the text message.
