24 maj 2023 · The default internet facing MTU is 1500 bytes, BUT depending on your setup, this often needs to be set much lower. Step 1: First check your current MTU. $ networksetup -getMTU en0. Active MTU: 1500 (Current Setting: 1500) As you can see, the Mac is set to 1500 bytes MTU.
11 lip 2010 · I've noticed that manually setting the MTU to 1472 drastically increases performance, presumably because it all but eliminates packet fragmentation, but Mac OS X periodically changes the MTU back to 1500.
22 lut 2022 · So I just set up a new mac mini 2020 m1, but for some reason the download speed is not getting above 0.8 Mb/s. The same connection on my phone and laptop is getting normal speeds of around 6Mbps. This makes me think it's a problem with the mac mini and not the router.

21 kwi 2018 · The best value for MTU is that value just before your packets get fragmented. Add 28 to the largest packet size that does not result in fragmenting the packets (since the ping command specifies the ping packet size, not including the IP/ICMP header of 28 bytes), and this is your Max MTU setting.
