Abraham, along with Noah, Moses and King David, is considered one of the most important individuals in the Old Testament. His name is recorded 250 times in the King James Bible, the eighth most. God made no less that eight covenants with Abraham (Genesis 12:1 - 3, 7, 13:14 - 17, 15:13 - 21, 17:1 - 22, 18:9 - 15, 21:12, 22:15 - 18).

Abram: main character of Gen 12–25; recipient of God’s promises; name changed to ABRAHAM (17:5); sons Ishmael (by Hagar) and Isaac (by Sarah); after Sarah’s death, takes another wife, Keturah, who has 6 sons (25:1-4), including Midian, ancestor of the Midianites (37:28-36).
