29 maj 2011 · For every GB it is approximately 250 songs. An 8GB should hold approximately 2,000, however as Niel stated it does depend on length encoding at different bitrates.
128 GB is roughly 16,000 songs encoded at 256 AAC, which is the highest codec you need for an iPod. If for some reason you have like 30,000+ songs you want on your ipod and the RAM to have it, then go for 256 GB and have over 32,000 songs.
Assuming that all songs are equal size (they're not but we are going by averages here), the math is: [2429 songs / (27.8GB - 7GB)] = (x songs / 7GB). Around 817 more songs. 2,400 tracks taking up 4/5th of the available storage, I'd say you can fit another 600 songs or so if you keep the same encoder settings.
