30 sie 2012 · I have heard that question asked quite a few times. My reasoning would be that I want to build something different. Me personally, I would much rather have a 300-400hp IDI than a Cummins making 600-700hp. An idi pushing that much power is far less common. Plus the idi can built to handle it by dropping the compression a bit too.
7 cze 2022 · Yes, the Ford (International/Navistar) 7.3 IDI is a dependable and robust diesel engine. With few generational problems, the IDI engine family is known for its long-lasting reliability. Although it lacks power, the 7.3 IDI will run forever if taken care of.
16 paź 2010 · The problem with the turbo idi's is the turbo housing is very restrictive and part of the reason for low hp numbers. The idi is a very good motor and in a original diesel truck a good set up but i would not swap it into a gas truck its just to much work for not enough gain.
