In the past, I had used a character sheet that I found online (made by David Lester, linked in the template). I became unsatisfied with how limited it was and decided to make my own improvements. After making the improvements, I made copies for my players and we started playing.
A friend of mine saw the docs-based character sheets I've been making for other systems and asked me to make one for 5e. I took some elements from the paper sheet, some from one of Roll20's digital sheets, and made some of my own additions and changes to better suit it to docs.
