If you want to try more, then you should go all the way building a proper 4-corner cooling setup with an inlet going into each head in the center and the coolant returned from the 4 corners. This seems to be a popular setup on circle track SBC.
4 gru 2013 · If you block the bypass, you should not run a tstat at all. The point of the bypass is so that the coolant keeps circulating thru the motor while the tstat is closed. Blocking the bypass and the thermostat being closed would dead head the water pump which I think would be a bad thing. Probably shorten pump life.

10 kwi 2010 · Also ther is a coolant bypass built into the waterpump, block and head on the passengers side to allow some flow in the morning for heater and defrost operation. In essence getting some warm water to areas where the heater hoses can supply coolant to the heater core.
