25 mar 2010 · I'm wondering the difference in bullet drop and wind-drift from 100-1000 yds between a 24" barreled .308 and a 20". I've assumed that the data on Federal's ammo boxes corresponds with a 24" barrel. I've got a compact remingtion 700 so I'm trying to figure out the difference.

27 gru 2014 · When cutting a 308 Winchester barrel from 26″ to 20″, he claims a gunsmith “found that a 20-inch barrel provides for a complete propellant burn and no velocity loss when using Federal Match 168-grain BTHP”.
I use Winchester brass trimmed to 2.005o.a.l, Winchester primers, 40.5gr Reloader-15, 175gr Sierra MK's, this gives me 2,500fps out of a 6 groove 27" barrel. Reactions: Rooster5oh E
18 kwi 2021 · Although typically loaded to higher pressures than the 7.62×51, 308 Win ammo is similar enough to the NATO round that either can be fired interchangeably from the same firearm. One of America’s favorite deer hunting rounds, and suitable for a host of other medium and large game as well.

When you fire 308 handloads in a bolt rifle, all you have to worry about from a safety perspective is that the propellant gas and bullet exit the muzzle.
