27 paź 2023 · Learn how to wire a 3-way switch system using our neat simple schematic and wiring diagrams (pdf included). Basically, you need to feed in power at the switch or at the light and set out one or multiple lights (2 lights, 3 lights, 4 lights or more) first, in the middle, or last in the configuration.
IMPORTANT NOTE ON 3-WAY WIRING: Some lights have one wall switch, while others are controlled by two or more wall switches (such as stair lights, which have a switch at both the top and bottom of the stairs). If your lights have more than one switch (called a 3-way), we’ve created instructions for how to install and enable the capability.
Wiring Diagram for a Three-Way Touch Lamp Switch. In a three-way touch lamp switch setup, there are three wires involved: the hot wire, the neutral wire, and the switched wire.
Here is a schematics in PDF format and a step-by-step process of connecting the wires with power at the switch: Step 1: Connect live (or a hot wire) to the common (or black) terminal of the first switch. Step 2: Use black and red wires to connect traveler (or brass-colored) terminals of the first switch and the second switch.
These diagrams show sample 3-way wiring configurations using an Essential Forward Phase Dimmer (C4-V-FPD120) or Switch (C4-V-SW120-277) with one Essential Auxiliary Keypad (C4-V-AUX).
Included is a diagram for a two-circuit lamp switch to control a standard lamp socket at the top of the lamp and a smaller socket at the base for a low wattage bulb. Also included are diagrams for a standard lamp switch, a three way lamp switch, and a vintage floor lamp with 4 light bulbs.
Important Note: Your wall switch may have two wires attached to the same screw (see illustrations below for examples). Tape these two wires together before disconnecting.
