RCA invented fully electronic television and invented the color CRT at their Lancaster plant. RCA's picture tube design and manufacturing division did get sold to Thomson, but the design and manufacturing of the tubes continued at the historic RCA plant in Lancaster.
CRT gamers chase fads. RCA has invented the color CRT and most or the core tech used in CRT TVs. Philips led the semiconductors used in most solid state CRT TVs. Dig deeper inside a TV, regardless of brand, and you will see the industry standing on the sholders of RCA and Philips.
Flea market score, RCA 27F554T with DTV tuner from 2008, with Component and S-Video. I think this is a great tv, i recommend it if you're looking for a good CRT with all the inputs, good alternative to the Sony Trinitron if you can't find one. Didn't know that new CRT TVs with component were still being made in 2008!
I had this exact set. It is very good and one of the last sets that RCA made in the USA. I take it yours has s-video?
My 36" RCA D36TF30 HD CRT is my favorite tv in my collection; I even prefer it over my 40" Trinitron. The RCA doesn't have the horrendous overscan present on the Trinitron, so you never have to deal with cut off HUDs in modern games.
