Henrik Lundqvist was drafted in the seventh round at 205th overall by the New York Rangers.
This is Roberto Luongo, who the same Mike Milbury drafted just three years prior with the 4th overall pick and traded away for basically nothing. Like, the early 00s Islanders with Luongo or DiPietro is more or less the same thing.
With 20 years of hindsight, NHL.com had Lundqvist move up from the seventh round (No. 205) to be the top pick of its 2000 redraft. Though Lundqvist made the biggest leap, he was not the only prominent player who jumped to the top of the class after being undervalued in 2000.
