Truck Series Identification. The easiest way to tell if your truck is a 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck is to look at the bolt patterns on your wheels. Trucks with five or six bolt patterns are 1/2 tons, trucks with eight bolt patterns are 3/4 tons.
