MAIN HOMILETICS OF THE PARAGRAPH.— 1 John 1:5. The Conditions and Privileges of Christian Fellowship.—St. John had entered into, and was enjoying, the “fellowship of the Father and the Son.” That fellowship he wanted the disciples to enjoy as fully as he did.
God "is light, and in him is no darkness at all" (1 John 1:5). The believer's goal is to "walk" in the light, as God is in the light, in order to have fellowship with Him (1 John 1:6). Verse 8 notes that those who claim to have no sin at all are lacking in truth.
