Below is my attempt to document all the usages of the gold coins in John Wick Chapters 1 - 3. I watched chapter 4 but don’t have a version to rewatch. I may update this when I do. The coins are minted in Morocco and appear to be distributed in New York and likely other locations.
My guess is that the coins don't have a fixed value, they are worth whatever both sides agree too. A single coin buys a relatively minor service and/or buys the help of someone who is on the periphery of the "life".
