11 maj 2023 · Method 1: Check connection by specifying the port number in your connection string. Determine the port your SQL instance is running on, see Get the TCP port of the instance. Try to connect to the named instance by using the port number appended to the server name in the format <servername\instancename>,<portnumber> and see if that works.
