Δ-8-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-8-THC, [a] Δ 8-THC) is a psychoactive cannabinoid found in the Cannabis plant. [1] It is an isomer of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-THC, Δ 9-THC), the compound commonly known as THC, with which it co-occurs in hemp; natural quantities of ∆ 8-THC found in hemp are low.
11 mar 2024 · In one study, in addition to Δ 8-THC, the cannabinoids Δ 9-THC, CBD, 9(S/R)-Δ 6a,10a-THC, and (6aR,9R)-Δ 10-THC were identified in an e-cigarette cartridge. All of these are isomers of Δ 9 -THC. The identification was based on retention time and fragmentation patterns compared with reference materials.

In this review, we summarize the pharmacological studies of Δ 8-THC, including receptor binding, cell signalling, in vivo cannabimimetic activity, clinical activity and pharmacokinetics. We give special focus to studies that directly compared Δ 8-THC to its more commonly studied isomer, Δ 9-THC.
