  1. 2 mar 2013 · I use a Dillon powder measure for progressive loading and a Lee Perfect Powder Measure for manual drop loads. I use a Hornady Lock & Load (digital) bench scale and a Lee beam scale. I have found both scales to be accurate and reliable to within 1/10 of a grain as advertised.

  2. 9 kwi 2016 · As long as I did my part, these loads were all accurate enough to stay inside the 10 ring of a standard NRA B-27 target at 25 yards. The WW231 load did leave some powder residue under the extractor star.

  3. 6 cze 2013 · My .38Spl target loads are 3.2gr W231 under a 158gr LRNFP in my Dan Wesson 15-2 6" .357. It consistently produces 2-3" groups at 15 yards in my old, shaky hands wearing trifocals.

  4. 15 paź 2011 · One of the classic target loads for 38special cartridges is 3.1 grains of WW231 with a hollow base full wadd cutter swaged bullet set almost flush to the cartridge mouth. Other substitute powders would be 2.5-2.8 grains of Bullseye or RedDot or 700X.

  5. 12 lut 2012 · I am looking for some load data for W231 and 240 cast in the 44 Special. These are just plinking loads and I am looking for around 800fps. On another note - where do I look for cast bullet data? All of my reloading manuals are for jacketed bullets and the old Lyman manual doesn't have much data.

  6. 27 mar 2024 · I load bullseye target loads to about 3.3g W231 (or HP 38, it's the same powder). Most of my plinker loads are at 4.0g W231 like Daddy066 mentioned above. I haven't chrono'd this load yet but I think it is close to a factory duplicate load.

  7. 19 kwi 2008 · 38 special loads using W231. I've loaded a 158 g LSWC bullet on 3.1 g of W231 for a light target load, but it seems unusually dirty (maybe incomplete powder burning), and 3.7 g W231 which subjectively feels like the recoil of factory loads.
