27 gru 2010 · With a Hornady 230gr FMJ i use 5.5gr of w231, cci primer, 1.255", Cycles well, good accuracy, medium power load. With Powerbond plated 230gr i use 5.3gr of w231, cci primer, 1.245". Softer load, cycles well and gives good accuracy, great range load for practice.
11 wrz 2010 · I loaded 124 gr FMJ Precision Delta's with 5gr of 231 at 1.15 OAL. I at work right now, so I don't have my chrono records with me. It made minor PF and was my goto load for IDPA out of the Glock 34 I had. I'll find my info and post it up when I get home later.
27 mar 2024 · I loaded a Campro 240 plated over 8.5 grains of 231 in a Winchester magnum case and it was a really accurate and pleasant load out of my 5 1/2” SBH. The load they list is 8 to 11 grains. Very clean burning and no issues with case splitting.
Hodgdon's current load data lists a Max charge of W231 under a 158gr SWC as 5.0gr in a .357 Magnum. The pressure they report is not even a hot standard pressure .38 Special load. Older sources list a charge range of 6.0gr to 6.7gr W231 under a 158gr SWC.
