Waffenamt inspection departments were established in each factory and Waffenamt codes were the German inspection proof mark. When an officer was commissioned, he received a set of stamps with his assigned number and was posted to an inspection team. All team members used his stamps.

Waffenamt (WaA) was the German Army Weapons Agency. It was the centre for research and development of the Weimar Republic and later the Third Reich for weapons, ammunition and army equipment to the German Reichswehr and then Wehrmacht .

6 cze 2004 · Early during WWII, Allied intelligence sources discovered the code, and despite concerted efforts, were unable to break the code. Even after the war when tons of documents were unearthed, the entire list of codes was not found, and thus some of the codes are still unknown.
