27 gru 2010 · With a Hornady 230gr FMJ i use 5.5gr of w231, cci primer, 1.255", Cycles well, good accuracy, medium power load. With Powerbond plated 230gr i use 5.3gr of w231, cci primer, 1.245". Softer load, cycles well and gives good accuracy, great range load for practice.
6 cze 2013 · I chose 2 loads, both with W231 (all loads loaded out of the same can of powder); 4.4grs & 5.6grs. I loaded both charges in the 38 cases at both the upper crimp groove (loaded short) and the lower crimp groove (loaded long).
Hodgdon's current load data lists a Max charge of W231 under a 158gr SWC as 5.0gr in a .357 Magnum. The pressure they report is not even a hot standard pressure .38 Special load. Older sources list a charge range of 6.0gr to 6.7gr W231 under a 158gr SWC.
1 lis 2022 · The Hodgdon reloading site lists load data for 115gr Speer Gold Dot Hollow Point. This is also a jacketed bullet, but designed for self-defense. Their starting load is 4.7gr to a max of 5.1gr. with a C.O.L. of 1.125".
