11 kwi 2022 · Just today, I am experiencing a problem with logging onto Vanguard. In the past, on some occasions, I received a message stating, "Check your phone, we sent you a security code ..." and then I would receive a phone call with the computerized voice and security code.

Not necessarily. A phishing site could take your login credentials, use it to attempt a login at real vanguard, which then sends the victim a code. Phishing site then also has a box to input the 2FA code, which victim does, and now scammer now logged in. This wouldn't be possible with a security key.

17 lip 2021 · It's easy to get 2-step verification every time on a recognized computer. Log in to your account, and select My Accounts > Profile & account settings from the menu bar on top of the page. In the "Security profile" section of the resulting page, click on Security code. You should be on the Security code settings page.
