28 kwi 2022 · The catch or hang up that people are hitting is when they try to use "Docker Desktop" on Ubuntu (instead of directly on macOS). This tries to run a nested virtualization scenario and Apple does not have this instruction set available on the M1 series of Apple Silicon devices.
I just downloaded the ubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso, and am having a hard time burning it, so I'd like to check that the file is intact, but I cannot find the md5sum of the file. Is there a URL or official FTP mirror which includes the md5sum of the Ubuntu disk images?

Note: as default, apt install will also install all the recommended packages. Having recommended packages is usually desired for desktop users, but it may be undesired on a server since it's a lot of additional stuff.

26 kwi 2024 · Yes.. perhaps.. but I downloaded a torrent since I assumed the directly link would be busy. But people might also download from mirrors. I also noticed that the usb image writer on linux mint has a verification gui. I will probably add to this post, but I'm not sure if ubuntu has it, so I need to get the app name. –
7 maj 2023 · 5. The advertised size of Ubuntu 22.04.2 might have been 4.6 Gi bi bytes, which is equivalent to 4.9 Gigabytes (4927586304 bytes). A DVD is advertised as holding 4.7 Gigabytes (4707319808 bytes), which is equivalent to 4.4 Gi bi bytes. This may be another case of unit confusion, which admittedly isn't too logical either to the average user.
