I’m playing NG+ for the first time and I came across some Alghouls. Never had a problem with them in my original play through but now they seem fucking impossible. It says that Axii makes their spikes go away but it hasn’t worked once for me. How do I kill something that I can’t damage?

Axii forces the spines on an alghoul to retract after a few seconds, with the added benefit of temporarily stunning the creature. An alghoul can emit a piercing scream to stun nearby victims, as well as send nearby ghouls into a raging frenzy. When enraged, an alghoul grows spines on its back.
