Scale usually refers to the adjustment of size, which is either the reduction or magnification of real-life objects while maintaining their proportions. In architecture, scales and scale drawings allow us to accurately represent sites, spaces, buildings, and details to a smaller or more practical size than the original.
The scales used can either be indicated as part of the border of the drawing or as part of the detail heading. When a standard scale is not suitable to be used for a detail or assembly, a non standard scale may be used and should be indicated as NTS (not to scale).
