An absolute beginner can use a “Pro” chassis and motor. The gearbox on the dual shaft kits are straightforward and easier to work on with less moving parts so fewer issues come up. The downside is until you get to Tamiya class where extensive modification is allowed, the weight and other limitations of the chassis can be more apparent.
