Part 1 begins with an introduction to amorphous materials. We explore glasses and polymers, learn about the factors that influence their structure, and learn how materials scientists measure and describe the structure of these materials.
MITx: Structural Materials: Selection and Economics | edX. Billions of tons of structural materials, such as steel, aluminum, and titanium are used every year. Learn where, why, and when they are used.
The faculty of Aerospace Engineering is proud to release its fundamental MSc courses about structures and materials online. Our world-class experts and the outstanding Delft Aerospace Structures and Materials Laboratory place the faculty at the forefront of research and education of this field.
This course presents fundamental principles and methods of materials and structures for aerospace engineering, and engineering analysis and design concepts applied to aerospace systems.
Taken together, these three courses provide similar content to MIT’s sophomore-level materials structure curriculum. Part 3 begins with an exploration of quasi-, plastic, and liquid crystals. Next, we will learn how properties of materials are influenced and can be modified by structural defects.
The course begins with an introduction to amorphous materials. We explore glasses and polymers, learn about the factors that influence their structure, and learn how materials scientists measure and describe the structure of these materials.
