Eligibility for SNAP food assistance is complex – based on family size, income and expenses – but both families and individuals may be eligible to receive Food Assistance. You may qualify for benefits if your household’s gross monthly income is at or under 200% of the federal poverty level (FPL).

Food assistance benefits are distributed electronically through the Ohio Direction Card, which is similar to a debit card.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, helps people with low incomes buy healthy food. If you qualify for Ohio’s Food Assistance Program you’ll receive an Ohio Direction Card, which is like a special debit care for buying groceries.
