#1: Make it easier to find the map you want when trading with cartographers. Here's my idea: Have the pathfinder maps unlock when the cartographer levels up to 'master' - This separates the explorer and pathfinder maps, making it a lot easier to sort through.
Show you the biome. It's used to find hard-to-find biomes. (There are maps for common biomes too) I'm pretty sure there are also treasure maps as well, in quark.
Vanilla maps can be crafted as usual but I’ve found that there’s an “atlas” that’s much more useful :) try it out. Cheers ill try that! Antique atlas is the map mod in this pack. If you want the minimap always in the top right corner you can do so in the Atlas HUD configs through the ingame mod options.

Quark r1.4-122. I can't seem to get custom mod biomes to spawn Pathfinder Maps. Here's an example of an element placed within the "Custom Map Info" array in quark.cfg: biomesoplenty:alps,2,8,14,7FE4FF,Alps Pathfinder Map. It seems pretty straightforward - however, the map doesn't appear with any Cartographers, and the log shows the error:
