Personally (in Europe), I use vimms for Wii, nes etc, but for PS3 it's no use to me. I use dlps for PS3 But download speeds in Europe from vimms are really really sucky.
Some PlayStation 3 games come in the form of package files, specifically PlayStation Network games, game updates or applications in general. .PKG files must be extracted using RPCS3's package installer found under File > Install Packages/Raps/Edats (or drag and dropped onto emulator window)
Then you will have to manually open the ps3 emulator by hitting F1 to get into the file system and find rpcs3. Once the emulator is open you can choose to install the pkg file, and the other file, which I think is a license file.
