Concerning age, the highest risk of poverty or social exclusion in the EU was recorded for young adults aged 18-24 years (26.1 %), while the lowest risk was recorded for adults aged 25-49 years (19.7 %).
The poverty line is taken as half the median household income of the total population. The population affected is broken down by broad age groups: child poverty (0-17 years old), working-age poverty (18-65 years old) and elderly poverty (66 year-olds or more).
4 paź 2022 · In 2021, the national poverty rate for people ages 65 and over was 10.3%, significantly lower than the poverty rate for all people and the child poverty rate. There were geographic variations in these poverty rates though not as pronounced as for the child poverty rate.
