There are many websites that attempt to copy the OptiFine website, or otherwise just plainly redistribute OptiFine illegally. Their downloads may be packaged with malware, adware, trojans, and many other bad things. Be aware of what sites you're visiting, and always try to check and scan your downloads before using them.

17 sty 2022 · Optifine gave me a Trojan virus. Went to the official optifine site. Clicked the download button. It took me to some sketchy ad site thing. I clicked off of it because it didn’t seem safe at all. Ran a virus scan and it said I had a Trojan dropper. Has this happened to anyone else. No. The official site is safe.

It's the official site linked in the Optifine thread, so I don't see how anyone can claim it's a scam. As far as adfly, if you use the "mirror" links, you can avoid that, though optifine.net has its own ads. On the other hand, optifine.net doesn't complain if you use AdBlock Plus.
