The fix is very simple. All you have to do is to go to 'adjust desktop color settings' in the Nvidia .cpl, and at the bottom where it has 'Content type reported to the display' you have to change it to anything other than auto. I set it to 'full-screen videos', and the problem goes away with zero effect on anything else as far as I have seen.

EDIT: Just disabling the display standby for the logon screen and the user session is sufficient (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/shell-experience/monitor-powers-off-when-pc-locked). No need for a batch file resetting the driver.

18 wrz 2020 · Hello All, Ever since I installed my RTX3090 XC3 Ultra, I have been experiencing random black screen crashes whenever I am watching videos, doing web browsing or being idle at desktop. According to event viewer, these happened because the display driver stopped responding and successfully recovered.
