6 lis 2022 · The world body has predicted a loss of 75 percent of available water per local inhabitant. Related land erosion, crop loss and lack of electricity are also likely to have a dramatic impact on...
For two decades, satellite altimetry has been proven to be suitable for monitoring inland water bodies such as rivers, lakes, reservoirs and wetlands. The measurement techniques is based on measuring the run-time time of the emitted radar pulse from the satellite to the water surface and back.
18 sie 2022 · This paper presents a comparison between Sentinel-1- and Sentinel-2-derived reservoir water levels and the altimetry-based water level from G-REALM (Global Reservoirs and Lakes Monitor) for three major reservoirs downstream of the Millennium Reservoir impounded by the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on the Nile River for the period of ...
19 wrz 2020 · Sudan floods, due to heavy rains especially in neighbouring Ethiopia, caused the Nile level to rise to an unprecedented level since 1912, according to Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.
The basin hydrological outlook indicates a period of high-river and lake water levels, sustained high lake inflows, and heightened risk of flooding across various regions, particularly along the White Nile.
On this basis, peak runoff and peak floodwater levels are simulated with hydrological and hydrodynamic models. The forecast results are managed with MIKE Operations, a flood forecasting system with customized solutions for data integration, analysis of forecasts, results visualizations and dissemination of flood warnings.
