You must be able and available to work, and actively look for a job, to receive benefits. In North Carolina, you may get up to $350 a week in unemployment benefits for up to 12 weeks.

The unemployment payment you collect weekly is known as your weekly benefit amount. Your weekly benefit amount is determined by taking your total wages from the last two quarters, dividing it by 52, and then rounding that number down to the nearest whole dollar.
