The Strategic Concept adopted by NATO Heads of State and Government at the Madrid Summit in June 2022 outlines the Alliance's purpose, principles, tasks and vision for the future. It addresses the security challenges posed by Russia, strategic competition, terrorism, climate change and other global issues.
We have endorsed a new Strategic Concept. It describes the security environment facing the Alliance, reaffirms our values, and spells out NATO’s key purpose and greatest responsibility of ensuring our collective defence based on a 360-degree approach.
