The good news is that macOS provides several customization options to help you organize your Mac desktop icons.
Align and resize items in icon view on Mac. When viewing items in icon view, you can change the alignment, size, and labeling of items on the desktop or in Finder windows. To change the icon you see for a file or folder, see Change icons for files or folders.
On your Mac, organize desktop files by grouping them into folders, aligning and sorting them, or changing their spacing, icon size, and text size.
