Lip Service was founded in 1985 by Drew Bernstein, a Hollywood skate-punk who had a vision! From Drew’s parents garage the “dagger” legging was born and his creative energy built and continues to keep this brand alive today.
Bernstein established the Lip Service clothing company in 1985 when at the age of 21 he was influenced by fashion designers of glam and death rock. Instead of continuing in their footsteps he saw a viable outlet for branding to goths and punks. [4]

The brand quickly found a following among musicians and their fans and was picked up by specialty boutiques that carried punk rock looks such as Retail Slut and NaNa, where Bernstein had worked as a sales rep.
