Your main focus should be on learning a DAW (digital audio workstation). Simply put a DAW is the software you are going to use to produce music. There are a ton of them, but I highly recommend Ableton Live. They offer a free 90 day trial, and student discounts for purchase. FL Studio also offers a free trial and on the MAC side Garage Band is free.
