It's not very likely at all. The files are moderated and contain pretty much only model, script and texture files that the game reads. Pretty much the only way for you to get infected is if you go clicking some unknown .exe files from recently uploaded files.
14 mar 2024 · If you're concerned about a file you've downloaded, you can check the security scan status (detailed above) and look at the number of downloads, endorsements and how long a mod has been available to make a sensible call on how likely the file is to actually be malicious.
In this case there has been millions of downloads and I’ve yet to hear a virus coming from Nexus (and not from a person just not having an idea how to be safe). Nexus is THE largest modding site on the net. Use others as your guinea pigs.
24 wrz 2010 · Over the past 18 hours or so the Nexus sites have been sporadically serving a trojan file through the ads on the site. Thanks to the logs of a few astute members on the forums I was able to identify the source of the trojan attack and have hopefully now nullified it.
Nexus uses Virus Total for its virus scan. You can view the files within a download if you're suspicious. (Just click "Preview File Contents" on the mod file.) You can just download manually then scan with Windows or Malwarebytes. Then install the archive into your mod manager.
25 lip 2024 · Too many virus scan hits. All files on Nexus Mods feature an icon next to the file name to indicate the virus scan status. This is usually a white cross in a red circle or a white tick in a green circle. Clicking on the icon will open the VirusTotal scan result page where you can see which anti-virus engines consider the file potentially unsafe.
Yes, NexusMods is safe - it's the largest site for mods and the only one I would download mods from without concern (they check files for virus). If there were a virus, you would know about it - users would red flag it immediately.
