The Battle of Gettysburg be gan about 8 a.m. to the west beyond the Mc-Pherson barn as Union cavalry confronted Con-fed erate in fantry advanc-ing east along Chambers-burg Pike. Heavy fighting spread north and south along this ridgeline as ad-ditional forces from both sides arrived. 16 National Cemetery.
The historic districts were compiled from the most recent National Register maps. Property lines are used based upon the County of Adams, GIS and Mapping Dept. digital files. The park boundary is based upon a combination of sources, the most reliable of which is GPS measurements made at existing boundary monuments.
