7 cze 2024 · Frontal Plane or Coronal Plane: Imagine a vertical plane that runs through the center of your body from side to side. This plane divides the body into front (anterior) and back (posterior) regions.
2 dni temu · Dr. Nikhil, an anatomy expert, explains: “In anatomy, a coronal plane is an imaginary plane that divides the body into two halves, with one half being anterior (front) to the plane and the other half being posterior (back) to the plane.” This division is always in reference to the anatomical position – standing upright, palms forward.
A coronal plane (also known as frontal plane) is perpendicular to the ground; it separates the anterior from the posterior, the front from the back, and the ventral from the dorsal. A sagittal plane (also known as anteroposterior plane) is perpendicular to the ground, separating left from right.
A coronal or frontal plane divides the body into dorsal and ventral (back and front, or posterior and anterior) portions. A transverse plane, also known as an axial plane or cross-section, divides the body into cranial and caudal (head and tail) portions.
17 paź 2013 · Using a frontal plane to bisect the body lengthwise, we’re able to describe certain areas that would not be easily visible or accessible if we used another plane. The transverse plane bisects the brain horizontally, allowing for a superior view. Want a quick review of planes, positions, and directional terms? Check out this video:
Body planes are imaginary planes that slice or section the body in its anatomical position. Try not to get too spooked out here but if we were to slice the body vertically, we would get an anterior part and a posterior part. This is called the coronal or frontal plane.
