The position of the mental foramen has been determined in relation to hard tissue landmarks [3, 12, 22, 27, 28, 36, 43, 45, 68] and soft tissue landmarks [19, 61] or both [19] in various population groups. Table 1 is a summary of studies reviewed in this article.
