In astronomy, the field of view (FOV) usually refers to how much of the sky we can see through the eyepiece of a telescope. If one telescope has a larger field of view than the other, it simply means I can see more of the surrounding sky with that telescope.
An eyepiece, or ocular lens, is a type of lens that is attached to a variety of optical devices such as telescopes and microscopes. It is named because it is usually the lens that is closest to the eye when someone looks through an optical device to observe an object or sample.
The true field of view (TFOV) is how much of the sky you can see when looking through your telescope with any particular eyepiece in place.
