British English /ʒ/ is commonly realized in IndE as /dʒ/, /z/, or /j/, or even /ʃ/ (although Sailaja states that it is ‘definitely’ present as /ʒ/ in Standard Indian English Pronunciation). For consistency, OED transcribes these as /dʒ/ (with /ʒ/ only where it exists in a word of Urdu origin).
