This EFHW is the best wire antenna that I have ever used in over 30 years in the hobby. My configuration has the transformer mounted 30 feet on a pole, and the wire in an L configuration. My antenna analyzer shows an swr of 1.8:1 or better on all of the bands.

This antenna works well enough on higher frequencies and performs like a standard dipole on 80 & 40 meters. The lower gain of a wire antenna vs a beam antenna on the upper bands is offset using a 800 watt PEP amplifier.

5 kwi 2019 · The last few years have seen a resurgence of interest in the end fed half-wave wire EFHW antenna. A half-wave at the lowest band of interest will also work well on all harmonically-related bands which has become particularly attractive to those wanting a quick portable wire antenna.
EFHW antenna's are really a good choice if you are looking to deal with a specific deploying situation or want a low visual impact antenna. Plus they can work well. For $200, I'd really rethink that however.
