7 sty 2019 · SX means Single word external, or having a 16-bit data bus; DX means Double word external, or a 32-bit data bus. The original 386's didn't have the DX or SX nomenclature; it was introduced with the 386SX which was released after the original 386. With the exception of the RapidCAD, the FPU for the 386 was the 387 (in both DX and SX variants).
15 cze 2006 · The difference between SX and DX for the 386 is different. NONE of the 386 CPUs had built-in FPUs. The DX had a 32-bit data bus, while the SX had a 16-bit data bus.
In 1988, Intel introduced the 80386SX, most often referred to as the 386SX, a cut-down version of the 80386 with a 16-bit data bus, mainly intended for lower-cost PCs aimed at the home, educational, and small-business markets, while the 386DX remained the high-end variant used in workstations, servers, and other demanding tasks. 27 kwi 2016 · Am386DX-40 vs AM386SX-40. I noted in Phil's VGA Benchmark charts that the DX appears to be significantly faster than the SX at the same clock speeds.
9 lut 2018 · Is there a good benchmark database where I could possibly compare the integer performance of these classes of processors? I'm particularly curious about how a fast 286 (Say a 286-20) compares to a slow 386 (Say a 386SX-20), and how far apart 386SX40 vs 386DX25 vs 386DX40 stand from each other..
