17 kwi 2023 · These data support the use of cranberry products to reduce the risk of symptomatic, culture-verified UTIs in women with recurrent UTIs, in children, and in people susceptible to UTIs following interventions.
1 dzień temu · Cranberries, whether consumed as juice, tablets, or capsules, are a popular home remedy for preventing UTIs. The effectiveness of cranberries in combating UTIs can be attributed to an active compound known as proanthocyanidin (PAC). By inhibiting bacteria such as E. coli from adhering to the bladder walls, PACs can stave off infection.
Proanthocyanidin (PAC) with A-type linkages, or their metabolites, are believed to be the active ingredient in cranberry, preventing Escherichia coli (E. coli) from binding to the bladder uroepithelium [12] and thereby reducing the ability of E. coli to cause and sustain a UTI.

The evidence from the current study supports cranberry juice for the management of urinary tract infections and the reduction of antibiotic use.
