Coldhands appears more similar to fire wights because he does still have his own soul, unlike other ice wights. And that's because Coldhands was a skinchanger bonded to an elk, so when he was wighted his soul went into the elk and was therefore able to return to his dead body.
There are three main theories. One popular is that he is some random individual, possibly a member of the Night’s Watch who disappeared in a ranging. The fact that he calls Samwell “brother” (III: 536) seems to support the general idea, at least, that Coldhands was a member of the Watch.
2 cze 2013 · It's possible Coldhands is just an anonymous black brother who Bloodraven freed from the Others control. While the various theories about him are really enticing (I'd like it best if he was the Night's King), there's really no evidence anywhere for any of them, expect that he has to have died a a while back.
