Also known as a clinical trial, a type of clinical study in which participants receive one or more interventions, according to the protocol and group that they are assigned to, so that researchers can evaluate the effects of the intervention on a health condition.
EudraCT (European Union Drug Regulating Authorities Clinical Trials) is the European Clinical Trials Database of all interventional clinical trials of medicinal products commencing in the European Union from 1 May 2004 onwards. The EudraCT database has been established in accordance with Directive 2001/20/EC.

For the purposes of registration, a clinical trial is any research study that prospectively assigns human participants or groups of humans to one or more health-related interventions to evaluate the effects on health outcomes. Clinical trials may also be referred to as interventional trials.
