The typical dose administered to dogs is 10 to 12 mg per pound per day (20 to 25 mg/kg per day) orally. The total daily dose can be divided and given every 12 hours.
Dogs. 5–20 mg/kg, PO, IV, or SC, q 12–24 h. Cats. 2.5 mg/kg, PO, IV, or SC, q 12 h; or 5 mg/kg, PO, IV, or SC, q 24 h. Cattle (excluding veal and lactating dairy) 7.5–12.5 mg/kg, SC, once. 2.5–5 mg/kg, SC, q 24 h for 3–5 days.
